Seals Closeout
Good morning Seals!
It’s been a nice break of less commitments but the Seals activities have been missed in the Galownia house. The boys still walk around doing the 7733 claps and a couple other cheers.
I have been rewarded by our community each season with your kids who train, improve and have fun. I can have a taxing day at work but show up to the pool and wind down. It may not be everyone else’s definition of “winding down” but providing an activity to positively influence kids with a sport I love fills my heart.
This was my first season to be a coach AND a parent and it added a new dynamic to things. Long story short, my family had a great time and we cannot wait until the next season.
As you’ve already seen, we had a very successful season as far as results go. Loads of time dropped, weekly DQ’s turning in to legal swims, records broken and all meets won. Thank you to all the parents for your commitment each week getting your kids to practices and meets, especially at the end of the season bouncing between Trinity and Ponderosa. Your effort in giving your child more swims was a huge factor in our success.
Although I don’t like shining the light on swimmers outside of the team party too much to avoid “favoritism” I do have a couple of things I’d like to announce/correct.
We had two Seniors from 2020 that last minute were allowed to come back and swim as 19-year-olds (Andrew Little and Tanner Isaacs). They both are great swimmers so I didn’t catch it, but I accidentally gave Andrew the High Point Award rather than Tanner. Andrew was our “Mr. Seal” but Tanner should have been awarded the High Point recognition for his age group (100% my fault).
We had plenty of our own team records broken throughout the season, but we also had some meet records broken at Ponderosa. Our Boys 13-14 (freestyle and medley relay) and Boys 19&Under Progressive relay both snagged the Ponderosa Invitational Records. Congratulations on some impressive swims!
Lastly, we have alllll of the awards from Trinity, Ponderosa, record breaker certificates and end of season party together and filed. I’m going to try and fit them all in one or two boxes then we will do a porch pick up or leave out at the POA pool desk. I’ll try and have this done this week and set out on Friday or all of next week. I’ll send out a follow up email with all of the names of who has anything to pick up (it’s a lot). Sorry for the delay on this, but it honestly took the backseat to relaxing a little.
Again, thank you for another great season. It was pretty cold at first. Longer than normal because of all the rain, but we try to fake-it-til-we-make-it to warmer weather!
We’ve already got our first meeting to start planning for the 2022 season scheduled for this weekend.
If you're looking to see me enduring some pain, I'm planning on doing Ironman Texas in The Woodlands in October again!
