2017 Season

Seals!

Our 2017 season is officially over.  In the event you’ve been under a rock, you may not know we won Ponderosa!  Imperial Oaks has never done this before.  NWAL (our league) is the largest summer-league program in Texas and the 2nd largest in the nation with 15,000 kids.  The fastest of the fastest kids were at this meet and our team won the whole thing, in the top division.  We totaled 1583.50 points and 2nd place had 1053 points…we killed it!  We also had more PI records broken by our relays which will hopefully stay there for a while.

We could not have done this if not for three main components:

1) Our kids and their hard work

2) Our parents for going 100MPH up I-45 to 99 to K.O. HS bouncing between Trinity and Ponderosa

2) And of course our coaches

There is no way to add up the numerous hours of figuring out relays between both of the meets and coordinating this with individual events.  You may have understood when we were emailing out relay entries to the team the night before only hours before check-in.  We had many swimmers leaving an individual event at Trinity, possibly sacrificing a medal or high point award, to swim a relay at Ponderosa for the team.  Whether this was a decision made by a parent, or the swimmer, it shows true dedication to our team and it’s very fulfilling as a coach or board member who has poured hours of their time away from the pool to set us up for success.  This is a huge accomplishment aside from our Divisional win, also in the top division.  We will have a target on our backs in 2018.  I would love nothing more than to beat the Divisional and PI champs if I were on any other team.  Needless to say, we had a great season as far as bringing home the bacon.  We are the Seals, couldn’t be prouder!

Winning is great, it feels awesome!  But where we won the most was teaching our kids that we love so much how to have fun and be a part of a team.  It’s our goal to  teach them discipline and to improve themselves in and out of the pool.  I think we accomplished that and more.

As a coaching staff, we couldn’t jive more than we did.  I know it sounds cliché and cheesy because every other team will say it, but have the best coaches.  Our team is very lucky to have repeat coaches on our team and I believe this is another main factor in our success.  Many other teams have a revolving door of college students looking for work during the summer (clearly, not talking about Adrian here).  You cannot expect five college students to go home and put the work that we put in.

Thank you again for another awesome season.  I cannot say enough how much I enjoy this sport and spending time with the neighbors.  We have a great community and we are honored to have been able to coach your kids for the 2017 season.

Respectfully,

Brandon Galownia

Go Seals Go!

I’ll also get the records updated today.  The PI results were corrected and uploaded at the end of last week.

In the past, we have been able to leave any leftover awards from the season in the boxes at the pool’s front desk.  We will send another email out when they will be able to be picked up.

Also, I’m going to host a Fantasy Football league for any Seal parents that are interested in playing.  It’ll be a 10-team, ESPN, PPR, QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, FLEX, DEF/Special Teams, one IDP, K league with some minor adjustments to the scoring pending a vote by the final ten teams that join.   If you’re interested in joining reply to this email!
