Rookie Camp will take place the week before our normal practices start in April. Rookie Camp is for new Seals to get a feel of what to expect for the rest of the season from our swim team. This is for swimmers new to swim team but have had lessons previously, not for previous swimmers wanting to “knock the dust off” before the season starts. We will go over the basic fundamentals of freestyle and backstroke. These dates and times will be posted on our team calendar, a news item on the website, and our Facebook page.

By the end of Rookie Camp, your swimmer must be able to complete one unassisted lap of “freestyle” across the pool. They cannot receive help from a coach during this final test, but they can stop and use the lane rope or wall for a quick break. This is for the safety of your swimmer for the following week and the rest of the season. The week following Rookie Camp will be our normal practices, which will be in a much larger group setting with many more swimmers in the pool and more coaches on deck. Swimmer safety is our number one priority. The unassisted lap test is an important step.
